What’s happening at Trent Country Park?

The answer is – a lot! The Friends of Trent Country Park are working with the Council on a number of projects:

  • Restoration of the Limes Avenue pond is under way. This will create an improved habitat for the waterfowl and other wildlife and a fun learning experience for visitors. Environmental Impact fees from events in Trent Park and some S106 development fees have been set aside for tree work, de-silting, re-building the banks and establishing a more reliable water supply. In the meantime the Friends are busy writing grants for the landscaping and interpretation board.

  • The waymarked trails will be upgraded early next year and the associated map will be improved to make them more user-friendly and encourage visitors to venture further into the park. The Friends have secured a Friends Fund grant from the Council for this work. If anyone would like to help install the marker posts, please let us know!

  • The Trent Park Family Wildlife Club will be wrapping up another successful season with sessions on September 15, October 20 and November 17.

  • Thames21 is working in Trent Park to create some areas of natural flood alleviation to prevent flooding further downstream on Salmons Brook. This will include tree planting and the creation of small wetlands, which will also create habitats in the process.

  • London Search and Rescue has selected Trent Country Park for some of its lowland rescue navigation training for its volunteers. https://www.londonsar.com/

  • Construction on the Berkeley Homes site will continue for another four years approximately. You can get more information via our Links page.

  • And planning for the Trent Park Museum in the mansion is moving forwards energetically. You can get more information via our Links page.

  • And more in the pipeline. We’ll let you know!
