Very exciting news! Thames21 submitted an application to the Mayor’s Greener City Fund for work in the park and was successful! The grant will cover [deep breath] – a series of leaky woody dams, the planting of 2000 new broadleaf trees, interpretation signage for the restored wildlife pond, new ponds created by FrogLife, a den building area and refurbishment of the orienteering course! And, no doubt, a partridge in a pear tree too! The park has also been offered free cherry trees as part of the Sakura Cherry Tree Planting Project in the UK, a project to celebrate the friendship between Japan and the UK, led by the Japan Society. Thank you Thames21 and the Mayor! Happy holidays to all!
